Meet the Management Team

  • Mario Mazzocchi

    Group Chief Executive

    Mario became Wesleyan Group CEO on 1 August 2019, having served as Chief Operating Officer since he joined Wesleyan in December 2018. He moved from Lloyds Banking Group where his most recent role was COO for their Insurance & Wealth Division. Previous roles in the Group have included Managing Director of the Financial Planning and Retirement business line at Scottish Widows, Chief Operating Officer for the Commercial Banking Division, Operations Director of Asset Finance and Head of Brand for the Group. Before working at Lloyds, Mario gained extensive experience in different industries, markets and sectors including marketing, sales and strategy.

  • Roger Dix

    Chief Risk Officer

    Roger is an active supporter of the volunteer sector and believes his activity there has taught him more about people than any management course. These lessons in human behaviour have been useful in his role as Wesleyan’s Chief Risk Officer. Prior to 2013, Roger managed Risk for LV=, Aviva and HBOS, while playing an active role in shaping the sector as it increased in importance for financial services. In total, he has worked in Insurance and Reinsurance for more than 40 years.

    My team provides foresight, insight and oversight about risk in an increasingly complex and connected industry.
  • Ahmed Farooq

    Chief Financial Officer

    When Ahmed was named West Midlands Young Director of the Year in 2017, the Institute of Directors judges praised him as “a great role model for future business leaders”. He was promoted to Wesleyan Chief Financial Officer in 2015 after excelling at leadership roles in Finance and General Insurance and this rise through the ranks at Wesleyan impressed the judges. Ahmed’s previous experience includes senior roles at The Phoenix Group and Celestica. He was also Chairman of Business Professional Services Birmingham.

  • Caroline Hill

    Chief People and Strategy Officer

    Caroline worked her way through a variety of managerial and HR roles before being appointed Head of Customer and Employee Experience at Vodafone. Her path to becoming Wesleyan’s Chief People and Strategy Officer has helped her to empathise with employees at every level of the business. Caroline has also led HR operations at Santander and GEOAmey.

    I take a positive, pragmatic and partnership-based approach to challenging the status quo.
  • James Needham

    Chief Actuary

    James has 20 years actuarial experience; he joined Wesleyan in 2010 and became Chief Actuary in 2018. He is responsible for Wesleyan's actuarial and financial reporting activity and oversees the Society's product development and performance, identifying ways to improve customer outcomes. He is a financial reporting expert and has presented at a number of actuarial conferences.

  • David Stewart

    Chief Operating Officer

    David became Wesleyan's Chief Operating Officer on 1 August 2019 having previously served as Technology and Transformation Director since he joined Wesleyan in April 2019. He moved from Lloyds Banking Group where held a range of roles across the group over a 10-year career, rising to Chief Operating Officer for the Group Operations Division. Prior to Lloyds, he worked in a variety of commercial and general management roles. As COO, David has Group-wide responsibility for Change & Transformation, IT, Cyber, Data, Customer Operations, and Supplier Management.

    My team is focused on delivering brilliant service outcomes for our customers, colleagues and our wider business. I’m passionate about Wesleyan being a great place to work and thrive.
  • Andrew D'Arcy

    Chief Executive, Wesleyan Bank

    Completing Harvard Business School’s Executive Leadership Programme gave Andrew fresh insights into building productive teams and driving sustainable growth. Andrew became CEO of Wesleyan Bank in 2019 having been Managing Director of Practice Plan, the dental membership plan business acquired by the Group in 2013. Andrew initially joined Wesleyan in 2008 as Director of General Insurance following roles at Royal Bank of Scotland, KPMG and Zurich.

  • Richard Harrison

    Chief Distribution Officer

    Richard joined Wesleyan in 2020 from HSBC UK where he was Head of Network and Premier, responsible for 625 branches and over 7,000 people. He has a wealth of experience in leading an advisory sales force and has an impressive track record of delivering positive outcomes for customers while improving commercial results. Prior to his time at HSBC, Richard spent 12 years at RBS NatWest and has specialist knowledge of customer proposition and distribution strategies, marketing and digital.
